Christmas On Salem St. Part 2
It was another busy day here in Apex. We got up early and went an had a pancake breakfast with Santa at the fire station. Then we went over to home depot where the boys built a project. Then we went to Owen's last regular season game where we lost a heartbreaker 6-5. Then we went to the Apex Xmas parade. I have got to tell you, if I wasn't a wuss before, I am now. We froze our butts off at the parade, and when we got in the car it was still 43 degrees. I guess I just can't take the cold anymore.

Christmas On Salem Street
Well, I’ve got a lot to write about this past week. I’ll go in chronological order. Last Sunday we went to the ice rink and I did sticks & pucks with the boys. They did great and had fun. We saw Nick Wallin’s (from the Hurricanes) wife and son there. I think his son is a year older than Owen. I think Owen can out skate him. Next in the week was our big hockey game on Wednesday. We were playing a tough team and I really wanted to beat them. It was a super exciting game. The scoring was tight. We took a 1-0 lead about 1 minute into the game. They came back and tied it and then took the lead. We came back and tied it up 2-2. In the middle of the second period our goalie took a shot on the knee and had to come out of the game for a few minutes. We played with no goalie for 2 minutes and didn’t allow a goal. With 2 minutes left in the game, the opponents scored to take a 3-2 lead. With 1:30 I pulled the goalie and we scored with the extra skater with about 1 minute to go. We went into a 3 minute sudden death overtime tied 3-3. Nobody scored in OT, so we went to a shoot out. The other team went 1st and there first shooter scored a nice goal. Then Owen was up. He skated out to center ice, got some speed, took the puck down and took a nice shot to beat the goalie on his blocker side. The crowd went wild and his mom and coach (dad) were so excited and proud. He was super excited and came back to celebrate with his team. Our 2nd shooter also scored and our goalie made great saves on there 2nd & 3rd shooters, so we won the shootout and won the game. It was more exciting than the Stanley cup. We have been improving and went from a tie for last place to a tie for 2nd place. Tomorrow is our last regular season game and then we have playoffs over the next 2 weeks. Tonight we went downtown Apex to “Christmas on Salem Street”. The video of the boys dancing is at the performing arts center downtown Apex. Tomorrow we are heading back for the x-mas parade.

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble
Happy belated Thanksgiving to all. We hope everyone had a great day. We had a nice day. We just stayed at our house and had one of our friends over. The weather was great, the food was fantastic, and the kids had a good time. The ladies did a great job cooking. Everything (including the turkey) turned out great. Even though we are down here in NC, for a few brief hours we still get too feel like we live in Michigan and the old times. What am I referring to you ask? I am referring to the stinkin' Lions. Some things will never change.
