Start Saving...

Today was another fun one. We went to the roller rink this morning. Owen had to get some training in for roller hockey since his new Nike Ignite 7 rollerblades arrived in the mail yesterday (you gotta love ebay, I am actually looking for surfboards right now on ebay). He is stoked because the new blades have Abec3 bearings (that just means their super fast).

After wearing the kids out at the rink, we went to look at a couple houses in the Parade of Homes. The Parade of Homes is a great showcase the builders do in the area to show off their home. What they do is build a house with all the bells and whistles and showcase it for 3 weekends to the general public. This year their were 351 homes on parade in Wake county. Of course, we headed to the 2 most expensive. I was amazed at all the traffice and interest in the neighborhood we went to. There were county sheriffs directing traffic, and we had to park offsite and take a shuttle to the homes. It was crazy. We went to a golf course community call Hasentree, in Wake Forest. There were 12 homes on parade in the sub ranging from 900,000 to 4,495,000. We only looked at 2 homes (it took 2 hours). They were 4,495,000 and 4,395,000. They were amazing, over 11,000 sq. feet, with 11 bathrooms, an in house spa, movie theater, and on & on. We were in the first home for about 3 minutes before Owen said "let's buy it dad". Hence the title of todays entry. Once we buy it, ya'll will have plenty of room when you come down to stay. Unfortunatley we couldn't take any interior pics, but we got a couple of the outside.

Talk to you soon, take care!

Surfin U.S.A.

What do you do when it's 94 degrees in the fall?? Go to the beach of course. As you can see we had a great time. It was the best weather for us at the beach so far. Hot, sunny and no wind. I am not sure why, but we saw tons of fish in the water this time. When we went out into the surf, you could see huge schools of fish (I don't know what kind, but they were 12-15 inches long) at the top of the waves as they would roll in. As you stood in the waves, it seemed like the fish were going to engulf you as the wave broke. They would come within 5-10 feet of us. It was really cool.
Hope everyone is doing well. Take care!!
P.S. Check out the video above. Looks like we need to get some surfboards for next summer.

Hey, Hey Hockeytown?????

Today was an absolutely beautiful day. We started off early, grabbed some breakfast and headed for the RBC Center to catch the Canes preseason home opener. We had to arrive early and get in line for the free tickets. They put on a big show for the opening day. As we waited in line, the boys had a blast, rollerblading, playing hockey and playing football. It was a great day for something like this. Once we got our tickets we headed to the Caniac Carnival where they had tons of stuff to do. They had a live band, bmx stunt bikes, slot cars, face painting, tons of inflatables & moonwalks, an autograph session, street hockey and an outdoor ice rink with synthetic ice (see video of Owen above). It was really cool and a great place for the family. The pic of Owen in the bucket was an attraction they had where you get in and stomp grapes to make juice. He thought it was pretty cool. After hitting the carnival for a few hours, we went back to the car and tailgated and had lunch. Then came the most boring part of the day, the game. I am not sure of the outcome since we left after the 2nd period (2 tired kids), Canes were down 2-0. Overall, it was a great day and a really fun event, we will definitely be back next year.
Take care & Go Wings!

First day of School!!!

Justin started school today. He was very excited and actually let me take his picture right up until he got into the classroom. Getting a picture of him with his teachers was out of the question. He had a great time and was singing school songs all evening. He even had a little bit of homework which he did very willingly and was excited to do it. He had fun and he sure is growing up fast. He looks so tall in the pictures. Oh yeah, I wanted to put one of his cute little polo shirts on him but he was being picky about his clothes, nothing with a collar. Didn't want to ruffle any feathers!! Little stinker!

Well, that's all for today. Hope everyone is doing great!!

Love,

Us!

The NC Zoo

We took a trip to the NC Zoo in Ashboro which is west of Apex. It was beautiful. Very large and surrounded by rolling hills and nature at it's best. We enjoyed seeing turtles, frogs, and fish in their natural habitat just as much as we enjoyed seeing the captive animals. The zoo is so large that there is a tram that takes you from one end of the zoo to the other to avoid a 5 mile walk. It was a great day.

Justin will start school tomorrow. He met his teacher and had an orientation last week. He is very excited and he already knew one of his classmates from playing with him at my work. His teachers seem great and he is eager to get started. Owen is pluggin away at school. He walks the halls like a politician. These kids run into someone they know almost everywhere we go, it's funny.
The pic of Owen is him just being Owen. He drew on his face so that it would look like he had a mustache and the hair well that explains itself! He is still creative at his own costume making. Justin laughs at him but Owen thinks he is really cool. They are too funny.
Well, hope everyone enjoys their Labor Day. We are heading to a bbq this afternoon in the neighborhood with some of our friends.
Love,
Justin, Owen, Jamie, and Shaun!
