Well, it has been another busy weekend. Owen has been tracked out and is spending much of his time perfecting his skateboarding tricks. Friday evening the boys went to a bday party at the bowling alley and then went back to their friend’s house to play in the great spring evening weather we have been having. Yesterday we had our Relay for life and another bday party. It was warm and sunny 84 degrees for the relay. Jamie & I and the boys had a lot of fun. In addition to the fun, the relay was a smashing success. As of last night, our team raised over $8,400 and the relay raised over $190,000. A very special thanks to mom & dad (Dan & Deb), Uncle Mick & Aunt Gerri, & Bob & Lisa McLearie for their generous donations. Your long distance support of our new relay means a lot! It was very similar to our relays past in MI, just a little bigger. We did do something really fun. We had a miss relay contest. Men dressed up as women, had a talent show, and then solicited donations. The “woman” with the most donations is crowned miss relay. We had 3 participants from our team. Although we definitely had the hottest “women”, they did not win the coveted crown. The video above is a clip of their talent portion. The girl in the picture with me is one of the boys on our team who participated in miss relay. He is the same kid in the video playing Frisbee with Justin. Although we had a perfect day, the evening had a somewhat different story. Just before the luminary ceremony was to start, some dark clouds rolled in with some lightning. Everyone (including us) was scrambling around to clean up before the storm. The ceremony got moved into the gym for safety reasons. We did not stay and just packed up to go home, which I think was a good thing since the boys were exhausted. Although they were calling for spotty storms last night, I don’t think we ever got a drop of rain.
Until next time…
